Les Contamines-Montjoie, Megève and Valley

Les Contamines is a charming mountain village that is full of personality, and the perfect place for families. There is a huge array of activities on offer all year round, encompassing both the winter and summer seasons. It is situated in the Montjoie valley, with lovely views of the Mont Blanc mountain range to the east and to the west the Mont Joly where the winter sports here are based. You access the picturesque village by driving through the town of Saint Gervais Les Bains, which is 10 minutes away. It also has an excellent transfer time from Geneva airport of only an hour.

Winter
The Les Contamines ski area is made up of 48 pistes which run from an altitude of 2,500m down to around 1,200m close to the village. There are a good variety of pistes to suit all abilities and fantastic views of the Mont Blanc whilst skiing through the forest. For the cross country skier there are 26km of trails to explore at village level (around 1200m.) Snowshoeing, dog sledding and skating at the natural ice rink are all things to try too.

Summer
This sunny valley is a great spot for walking in the summer months, particularly in the nearby nature reserve (5500 hectares) where you can experience the alpine flora and fauna. Other activities to try include guided walks at night under the moonlight, four-wheel driving in the mountains, hiking at altitude using the lift system, rock-climbing, kite-flying and parepenting. The village itself also contains two excellent examples of Baroque churches and a cinema.
